How to Keep Your Lawyers Happy (And Still Get the Deal Done)

When you're negotiating a contract, should you focus on getting the best price or reducing risk?

Obviously, that’s a loaded question. There are so many factors to consider, especially with technology agreements.

One thing is for sure though.

Your corporate lawyers are always going to want to minimize risk.

They're lawyers after all. That's their job.

As an executive, you can deal with the lawyers in one of two ways.

You can view them as an obstacle. And if you do this, I assure you they WILL be an obstacle.

Or you can embrace their role and work out a deal that everyone, even the lawyers, are happy with.
